And now London is also haunted by a <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2019-04-19\/london-sewer-concreteberg-blocks-100-metres-of-pipes\/11031884\">concreteberg<\/a><\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Late great tech unicorn <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Theranos\">Theranos<\/a> made use of a proprietary blood-collection device they called the <i><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/nanotainer\">nanotainer<\/a><\/i> (via <i>container<\/i>), and I recently found out about <i><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vacutainer\">vacutainer<\/a><\/i> and a security software package called <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cypherix.com\/cryptainerle\/\n\">Cryptainer<\/a><\/i>. So <i>-tainer<\/i> has been liberated.<\/p>\n<p>The other day in Queens I saw a sign for a <i><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mathnasium\">Mathnasium<\/a><\/i>, presumably extracted from <i>gymnasium<\/i>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.english-corpora.org\/coca\/\">Corpus of Contemporary American English<\/a> also has a token of <i>jamnasium<\/i> (a space for jam seshes), suggesting a nascent <i>-nasium<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>In a recent, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inverse.com\/article\/56070-low-sizzletonin-during-mental-health-awareness-month-is-a-bad-idea\">widely-derided ad campaign<\/a>, Applebee&#8217;s coined <i>sizzletonin<\/i> on analogy with the neurotransmitter <i>seratonin<\/i> and the hormone <i>melatonin<\/i>, but as far as I know that&#8217;s the end of the line for <i>-tonin<\/i>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You may be familiar with fatberg, a mass of non-biodegradable solids and fats found in sewers, which suggests -berg has been innovated (presumably via iceberg).
